My birthday falls on Sunday (tomorrow). I will be a 26-year-old wife and mother. I have celebrated 25 birthdays so far, although I can only remember the last 23 of those, and I have found that my favorite presents are those intangible things that I receive from people--things like doing things together or experiences instead of items. I also love presents from the heart that you can tell somebody put a lot of thought into. My husband found this out about me fairly early on and loves to make me happy! Therefore, yesterday (Fri) he took me to the ballet and today he invited both of our families over for lunch and birthday cake. He really went out of his way to arrange both.
We left Caio and some pumped milk with my sister and headed out. I was kind of worried because he has never successfully taken breast milk in a bottle yet, but I was hoping that they would have better luck this time. We got to the theater in pleanty of time and were able to take in the atmosphere of everything without feeling rushed. I loved being all dressed up and feeling like one of the "grown-ups." The ballet we saw was Swan Lake and I loved every minute of it. The costumes were spectacular and the dancing was superb! I expected to enjoy everything, but I ended up loving it and being entranced by the entire performance. We called to check on CJ during first intermission and I could hear him screaming in the background. I felt so bad, but when I picked him up they said he had eaten a little and he was actually smiling and playing in my sister's arms. He was really glad to see me though, and I was overjoyed to have him back with me again.
Today we were getting ready for the lunch as soon as I woke up. We got a phone call saying that my brother's son has pneumonia in both lungs and had to go to the hospital, but that everyone else was still going to be here, just 2 hours later than we expected. We hurried and told everyone else who was coming that it was being postponed and were actually glad for the extra time to prepare. Later we got word that my nephew is going to be alright. My mother-in-law cooked most of the food and it tasted so good. Everything was perfect. We visited for a long time (probably a little too long, but I hope nobody minded) and we ate and we had cake and then everyone went home and I sat back and felt so happy. The rest of the evening has been far more layed back and relaxed and I have been loving it. Today might as well have been my birthday, because I can't immagine anything better. I think this is the best birthday that I have had (even though it is technically tomorrow) since I was 3 or 4 years old (those were both really good birthdays for me).
I expect tomorrow to be a good day too, but I don't think anything will top today.
